The Via Ferrata Version starts off with a butt-clenching assent across the high level walkways, steel staples and zip-wires at the Honister Slate Mine. Starting at a mere 200ft of the valley floor each participant makes their way along the cliff side iron road to the dizzying heights and great views over Honister Pass.
The normal commercial trip starts at either 9.00am or 3.00pm for the Via Ferrata and Zip Wire combo £35 per adult.
A guide is with you the entire time but a lot of the challenge is that you have to look after your own safety. Making sure that you don’t undo both clips at the same time and those sort of things.

The trips last between 3 and 3.5 hrs depending on the size of the group and is truly a backside clenching experience.

They have a minimum age of 10yrs on the trip and a minimum height of 1.3m. The height and age is to do with the ability to clip and unclip yourselves on the trip.

We have a couple of companies that do private trips for us outside the standard trip times that may be better for you.
Or if you are planning on doing other things on your trip to the Lakes the same companies that do really good combination trips including the Via Ferrata.
The most popular trip we do is a morning on the Via Ferrata then an afternoon taking on a Gorge Scrambling trip down Stoneycroft Gill.
